Joint personnel of Coast Guard K9- Central Visayas (CGK9-CV) and Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Bato intercepted forty six (46) units of caliber 45 pistols, magazines and apprehended three persons while conducting Maritime Security and Maritime Safety Administration inspection on 2 rolling cargoes bound for Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte from South Bus Terminal Cebu City via Samboan Lite Ferry port, Samboan Cebu yesterday, July 14.

The illegal firearms and ammunitions were confiscated from three (3) suspects namely Velino C. Cubol, 36 years old, Flora Mae R. Cubol, 35 years old and Maria Bella A. Manot, 55 years old and all residents of Barangay Suba, Danao City, Cebu.

The said suspects, firearms and ammunitions were properly turned over to PNP Samboan for appropriate legal action.

The suspects violated the provision of Sec. 28, Art. V, of R.A. 10591 otherwise known as the " Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation.

The PCG has intensified operations against possible illegal movement of firearms from Vizayas to Mindanao based on the directive of PCG Commandant Admiral Elson Hermogino to cut the supply of firearms to lawless elements and terrorists groups operating in Southern Philippines.
