Coast Guard Station (CGS) Iloilo together with PCG Maritime Law Enforcement (MARLEN), BRP Cabra (MRRV-4409) and operatives from BFAR Region VI and Municipal Bantay Dagat teams of Buenavista, San Lorenso , Sibunag and Nueva Valencia of Guimaras apprehended a fishing boat “MIC MIC” with six (6) crew onboard at the vicinity waters of approximately 6 nautical miles Southeast of Unisan Island, Nueva Valencia Guimaras on July 21, 2018.
Said fishing boat was caught conducting illegal fishing using Trawl Fishing with active gears.
While on patrol, the team boarded the fishing boat and found out violation/offenses under Republic Act 8550 as amended by Republic Act 10654 also known as “An Act to Prevent, Deter And Eliminate Illegal, Unreported And Unregulated Fishing”. The team also discovered no pertinent document onboard the fishing boat.
Violations are the following:
PCG Violation:
1. Master Failure to Accomplish Master’s Declaration of Safe Departure MDSD – HPCG Memo 05-12
2. Leaving Port without PCG Clearance- HPCG MC 07-12
BFAR Violations:
1.Sec 86 o RA 10654 – Unuathorized Fishing
2.Sec 89 of RA 10654 – Unreported Fishing
3.Sec 90 of RA 10654 – Unregulated Fishing
4.Sec 95 of RA 10654 – Use of Active Gear in Municipal Waters
5.Sec 113 of RA 10654 – Commercial Fishing Vessel employing unlicensed fisherfolks
6.Sec 121 of RA 10654 – Use of unlicensed Fihsing Gear
The apprehended persons are the following:

3. Ariel l Paradero 30 M
2. Erwin G Genosa 38 M
4. Virgilio R Denopol 64 M
5. Joey D Mones 32 M
6. Joel Gatoslao 59 M
All are residents of Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.
The apprehended Fishingbanca MICMIC was turned over to Bantay Dagat Nueva Valencia, Guimaras, while the 6 apprehended person on board were turned over to Nueva Valencia Philippine National Police for the filing of appropriate charges.
The apprehension is a result of the Coast Guard District Western Visayas enhanced MARLEN patrol operations and anti-illegal fishing campaign.
