PCG: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and China Coast Guard (CCG) held the 2nd Joint Coast Guard Committee (JCGC) Meeting in Guangzhou, China last October 9-11, 2018.

This is part of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between PCG and CCG on the establishment of a JCGC on Maritime Cooperation signed by our President Rodrigo Duterte and China's President Xi Jinping in October 2016.

The two sides noted the positive outcomes of the bilateral relations, and expressed their willingness to further deepen cooperation by conducting port visits, joint exercises, personnel exchange and training, and utilization of hotline communication.

The two sides emphasized their willingness to further enhance bilateral relations and mutual trust, adhere to a shared vision of enhanced, safe and secure marine environment, and promote "Coast Guard Diplomacy".

Both sides recognized the JCGC as an important platform to manage issues and broaden collaboration to contribute in the maintenance of peace, security and stability in the South China Sea.

The Record of Discussions was signed after the meeting.

The Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of CPC Central Committee, Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Official Representative from the Consulate General of the Republic of the Philippines in Guangzhou also participated in the meeting.
