PCG: A total of 29 fishermen were apprehended by the elements of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Cavite and Coast Guard Special Operations Force (CGSOF) within the vicinity waters off Puerto Azul, Ternate Cavite last Sunday, November 4.

Fishing boat “Bhenlita II” was spotted by the team conducting fishing activity using encircling gillnet at the vicinity waters approximately three kilometers from Puerto Azul with its boat operator onboard, Mr Norberto T Jagoansi Jr, a 38 year-old resident of Barangay Bunga, Tanza, Cavite together with 18 crew members. After the conduct of initial inspection, they were apprehended after finding out that no accomplished Master’s Declaration of Safe Departure was submitted to Coast Guard Sub-Station Rosario and leaving the port without PCG Clearance.

While the said team is escorting the apprehended fishermen, a Fishing boat “ John Dexwin” was sighted 500 meters away from the Philippine Marine Base, Ternate, Cavite whose onboard operator, Mr Fernando Teaño, 50 years old resident of Barangay Amaya VII, Tanza, Cavite together with 9 crew members were caught conducting trawl fishing activity.

CGS Cavite filed charges against the illegal fishermen for violating the local fishing ordinance of Ternate. 

The apprehended boat captains and crew members were escorted to CGS Cavite for proper documentation and filing of appropriate charges.
