PCG: Coast Guard Station Cebu together with personnel from Multi-Role Response Vessel 4404 (BRP Capones), Marine Environmental Protection Unit Central Vizayas, and Special Operations Unit (SOU) declared no sign of oil spill as Motor Tug “Fortys X” ran aground at vicinity waters off Lipata Bunk in Talisay, Cebu around nine in the morning yesterday, November 9.
The tug boat, which has 12 crew onboard together with its Captain, Mr. Edwin Gagan, was bound to Calaca, Batangas from FF Cruz Pier in Mandaue, Cebu when it ran aground to the shallow area of the above mentioned vicinity.
Initial investigation revealed that the captain tried to extricate using his power but yielded with negative result.
The team immediately established communication to the distressed vessel and rendered necessary assistance.
All crew members of the ill-fated tugboat were found to be in good condition after being examined by the deployed Coast Guard Medical Team.
