PCG: Five crew members of a distressed motor boat were successfully rescued by the Coast Guard in Cagayancillo, Palawan on New Year's Day.

The survivors were found onboard M/Bca Darnik at the vicinity waters of Manukan Island, Cagayancillo.

According to boat skipper Fred Bundac, the rudder broke due to rough sea condition while underway from Iloilo to Palawan.

Bundac reported the incident to the personnel of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Cagayancillo and requested for assistance.

The stranded men were rescued by the PCG and some volunteers from Barangay Wahig, Cagayancillo. All were found in good physical condition.
