Nineteen (19) non-officers from various PCG districts successfully graduated from the Outboard Motor Maintenance (OMM) Course conducted by the United States Coast Guard today at Headquarters Coast Guard Ready Force, Pier 13, Manila with LCDR JEREMY OBENCHAIN USCG from the Defense Threat Reduction Office Philippines, US Embassy, Manila as the Keynote Speaker.

“By completing the training, you will be able to maximize the effectiveness of your resources and thereby maintain the readiness of the small boats around the Philippine Coast Guard fleet”, LCDR OBENCHAIN said during his speech.

The two-week OMM Course was led by Mr Todd Walters, training team leader of the US Coast Guard and LTJG ED DEL ROSARIO PCG, training director of the Coast Guard Ready Force.

Said training is primarily designed for students assigned to an engineering position and are responsible for maintaining outboard motors wherein they were taught the basics of engine theory (2-stroke and 4- stroke), theory of operation of the various systems (electrical, carburettor, etc.) and an understanding of trouble-shooting steps for each system.

The class was the sixth session funded by the US Department of State Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) Program. The previous sessions were conducted in Cebu, Palawan, Iloilo, and Manila respectively.
