PCG: Elements of the Philippine Coast Guard are still searching for a 14-year old girl who was pulled by strong waves into the deeper portion of the sea in San Juan, La Union.

The victim, Melba Colombres, with three others namely, Diane Colombres (27 years old), Melody Colombres (16 years old) and Joan Banaang (15 years old), all residents of Crystal Cove, Baguio City were on a swimming venture at Casa La Playa Beach Resort last Saturday, 21 January when the incident occurred.

The four local tourists were reportedly dragged by strong currents. Two managed to swim back to the shoreline, another was rescued by a local surfer while Colombres remained missing.

The personnel of Coast Guard Station San Fernando, together with Philippine Navy, PDRRMC and MDRRMO, immediately searched for Colombres but yielded negative results due to zero visibility and unfavorable weather and sea condition.

Search operations will continue as soon as weather and sea condition permits.
