PCG: Two fishermen drifting at one nautical mile off Apo Island were rescued by the Coast Guard last January 17.Β 

A certain Ruben Alaton found the fishermen and informed the PCG for immediate assistance.

Search and rescue operation together with barangay officials was swiftly conducted by the Coast Guard resulting to the successful rescue of the said fishermen.Β 

They were identified as Cornelio Escalante and Vicente Flores, both 65 years old and residents of Langtad, Argao, Cebu.

Inquiry with the survivors revealed that they sailed to Alcoy, Cebu for a fishing venture when they encountered engine trouble which caused the boat to drift to Negros Oriental.
