The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Japan Coast Guard (JCG) held the 11th Sea-Borne MARLEN Training Exercise together with the representatives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) at the vicinity waters off Manila Bay and Headquarters Coast Guard Ready Force (HCGRF), Pier 13, South Harbor, Manila this morning, 25 January 2017.

The objective of the two-day MARLEN exercise is to further develop the skills of PCG personnel aboard its floating assets in addressing illegal fishing activities by foreign vessels and to enhance the PCG Command and Control concept with proper communication line.

A table-top exercise, scenario information, preparatory exercise, actual exercise and review meeting will be conducted from 24 to 26 January 2017.

Four (4) Japan Coast Guard officers headed by LCDR EIJIRO MIYATA and JICA MARLEN experts participated as exercise observers and critiques during the conduct of the said activity.
