Coast Guard Marine Environmental Protection Command (MEPCOM) together with the Office of the Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Marine Environmental Protection, CG-9  led by Captain Edgar L Ybañez PCG, Director, NOCOP, with Lieutenant Commander Lazaro Ernesto C Valdez Jr PCG, Acting Deputy Chief of Staff for MEP, CG-9 and Lieutenant Junior Grade Berni Ann R Gimeno PCG, Operations Officer, DCS for MEP, CG-9 conducted a Public Consultation on draft Marine Environmental Protection Rules and Regulations of the Philippines (MEPRRP) at Hotel Pier Cuatro in Cebu City on 06 February. 

The public consultation aims to increase the awareness among the different stakeholders and gathered ideas that can be used to improve the draft Marine Environmental Protection Rules and Regulations of the Philippines (MEPRRP). It was attended by the representatives from PCG and forty two (42) stake holders such as Lite Shipping, Mactan Shipyard Corporation, Chevron and Cebu Barge & Tug Incorporated.

The next public consultation will be held in Davao on February 8 and in Manila on February 14.
