Personnel of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Iligan continues its search for four missing fishermen onboard Mbca “Engka” at vicinity waters of Initao, Misamis Oriental last February 14.

The incident was reported by Mrs Susana Pakanot, Staff of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Office (PDRRMO) at 12:05PM of the same date.

The missing fishermen were identified as Mr. Reno Suarez, 35 years old; Mr. Marvin Veligas, 25 years old; Mr. Rezan Jaudian, 29 years old; Mr. John Remark Wabe; and 16 years old, all residents of Brgy Poblacion, Purol 11, Initao, Misamis Orriental.

Investigation revealed that said missing fishermen went on fishing venture last February 13 but failed to return home since.

Immediately, CGS Iligan directed Coast Guard Sub-Station Lugait and also coordinated with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office to conduct a Search and Rescue (SAR) Operation. However, the team yielded negative result due to unfavorable and sea condition prevailing in the area.

Furthermore, CGS Iligan personnel alerted all vessels transiting the area to be on look out for the missing fishermen and to render necessary assistance and report to the nearest PCG unit if sighted.
