PCG: A fast craft of Supercat 2Go “MV Braquel” accidentally collided to a San Miguel barge at the vicinity waters of Mactan Channel, Cebu at 10:21PM yesterday, February 18. 

A certain Ms Joan Campana reported the incident to Coast Guard Station (CGS) Cebu. Personnel of CGS Cebu immediately dispatched DF-318 and aluminium boat to render assistance and medical support. 

The Coast Guard team assisted the transferring of 90 passengers and eleven crew onboard the said fast craft to its sistership “MV Saint Jhudiel” of which 45 passengers incurred minor injuries while four other were seriously injured. 

At 11:45PM, MV Saint Jhudiel safety disembarked the 90 passengers and 11 crew of MV Braquel.

As of press time, personnel of Coast Guard Station Cebu still conducting investigation regarding the collision of the fast craft and barge. MV Braquel with 292.95 gross tonnage departed Ormoc City at 7:55PM of February 18 bound for Cebu City.     

PCG advises the master of MV Braquel to file a marine protest relative to the incident.
