PCG: PCG crew members of BRP Malabrigo (MRRV-4402) has successfully medically evacuated an ailing passenger of a foreign cruise ship at vicinity waters 1.5 NM Northwest of Carabao Island, Cavite, today, 19 March 2017.

The victim was identified as Mrs Pauline Sulivan, 70 years old, an Australian-national.

Reports received from Coast Guard Action Center in Manila revealed that around 2:25 AM of the said date, a certain Felipe Sousa, Master of MV Magellan is requesting for a medical evacuation for Sulivan who was suffering from acute abdominal pain and subsequently diagnosed to have a hypovolemic shock while said vessel was plying from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia enroute to Manila.

Immediately, CGAC dispatched BRP Malabrigo (MRRV-4402), a 44-meter multi-role response vessel to said vicinity with medical team to render assistance.

Around 5:25 AM, BRP Malabrigo safely arrived at Pier 15, Headquarters Ready Force, Port Area, Manila and disembarked the said ailing passenger. Subsequently, Sulivan was then turned-over to the vessel’s local agent, Mr Romigio B Apolinario and transported to Manila Doctors Hospital for further medical treatment.

MV MAGELLAN with 46,052 gross tonnage, is a holiday-class cruise ship owned by Global Maritime Group and operated by Cruise and Maritime Voyages.
