PCG: A total of 27 passengers were assisted by the personnel of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Boracay after two motor bancas collided with each other at the vicinity waters of Cagban Jetty Port, Brgy Manoc-Manoc, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan at 8:20 PM yesterday, April 17.
The incident was reported by the duty PCG Vessel Safety Enforcement Inspection personnel at said port.
Immediately, CGSS Boracay Deployable Response Group proceeded to said area to render assistance.
Investigation revealed that M/V Boracay Express 3 was carrying 69 passengers and 12 crew onboard when she departed Cagban Port. While conducting undocking maneuver, the skipper tried to avoid the anchor line of LCT Cruiser 22. She did not notice and accidentally hit Mbca Pem-Pem which was approaching berth and with 27 passengers and three crew members onboard, which caused damage to the motorbancaβs starboard side of her bow section.
Subsequently, Mbca Boracay Express 3 decided to continue her voyage bound to Caticlan Jetty Port while Mbca Pem-Pem managed to dock and unload safely her passengers being assisted by the PCG personnel at Cagban Jetty Port with no reported casualty.
Mbca Pem-Pem sailed back to Sitio Tabon, Brgy Caticlan, Malay, Aklan for necessary repairs.
CGSS Boracay advised both parties to file a Marine Protest relative to the incident.Β
