Personnel of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Iloilo Fishing Port Complex (IFPC) and Coast Guad Sub-Station (CGSS) Jordan successfully rescued four fishermen onboard capsized M/Bca Jeanie Joven at vicinity waters of Brgy. Buyo, Jordan, Guimaras today, April 25, 2017.

According to reports, at 6:55 AM of said date, the Chief Mate of MV San Rafael Uno of 2Go Shipping Lines informed Coast Guard Station (CGS) Iloilo that they spotted a capsized motor banca at vicinity waters of Muhuy Pt. Sinapsapan Anchorage Area, Guimaras. Immediately, CGS Iloilo directed CGSS IFPC and CGSS Jordan to conduct search and rescue (SAR) operation to subject motorbanca.

CGSS IFPC personnel onboard Aluminum Boat 065 proceeded to the area and successfully rescued the four fishermen who were found clinging to their capsized motor banca at vicinity 300 meters away from the shorelines of Brgy. Buyo, Jordan, Guimaras. CGSS Jordan personnel onboard M/bca Hollywood towed and secured the capsized motorbanca to IFPC Wharf.

The rescued fishermen are all residents of Miraculous Zone 06, Calumpang, Iloilo City and were identified as follows:

                                             Melvic Pompirada - 37 years old

                                             Joe Russel Sumagaysay - 20 years old

                                             Melfred Pompirada - 28 years old

                                             Emilio Pompirada, 32 years old

The team assisted the rescued persons onboard AB-065 and brought them to CGSS IFPC.

Investigation conducted to the victims revealed that on April 24, 2017 at 10 PM they departed Brgy. Calumpang, Iloilo City onboard M/bca Jeanie Joven to conduct fishing venture at vicinity waters 200 meters away from Bondulan Point. While they were laying their fishing net, their motorbanca listed to its left side causing it to partially submerge and they were drifted towards Brgy. Buyo, Jordan, Guimaras.  

They were properly turned over in good physical condition to Iloilo City Emergency Responder (ICER) and to t0heir immediate family member, Mrs Gemma Sevilla.
