The Coast Guard Public Affairs Office conducted a public affairs workshop with the Deputy Public Affairs Officer of the US Coast Guard 14th District, Chief Petty Officer (CPO) Sara Muir USCG as guest speaker at the Headquarters Philippine Coast Guard today, May 11.
The said workshop was attended by thirty four (34) students of the Coast Guard Command and Staff Course Class 14-2016.
Chief Muir gave an overview of the USCG District 14βs assets, operations basics in public affairs to include guideline in releasing information tips on photography and video, posting using official and unofficial accounts and brand management.
The workshop aims to broaden the knowledge of the PCG Officers in handling media practitioners during crisis, releasing information to the general public as well as handling external affairs.
Chief Muir provided assessment on the students as they were taught to develop key messages and talking points for speaking engagements during critical incidents.
Said activity is aimed to prepare the PCG Officers to be future public affairs officers (PAOs) in their respective areas of assignment.
