PCG: Director Malcolm Brown of the United Kingdom National Maritime Information Centre and Political and Security Secretary of British Embassy Manila, Mr. Rupert Compston paid a courtesy call to Philippine Coast Guard Officer-In-Charge Commodore Joel S Garcia PCG Ph.D.,H.D., Al-Haj at the Headquarters Philippine Coast Guard this morning, 29 June.

During the courtesy call, Commodore Garcia briefed Director Malcolm on the current situation of the Philippine Coast Guard as well as the organization’s efforts in intensifying maritime security in the country through the implementation of the Safety, Security and Environmental Numbering (SSEN) System in all Philippine registered vessel and watercrafts.

Furthermore, future involvement of United Kingdom in developing the education and training of PCG personnel was also discussed by both parties, as well as other opportunities to promote partnership and cooperation between the two organizations.
