PCG: To expand the international horizons and help grow the friendly relationship between Coast Guard agencies, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has recently sent its contingent for week-long International Junior Officers and Cadets Conference at the Japan Coast Guard Academy (JCGA) in Hiroshima, Japan last 20-26 June 2017.

The PCG delegates, Lieutenant Martin L Bernabe PCG and Lieutenant Junior Grade Sheryl M Cuevas PCG joined in a series of exchange of activities such as a study tour of the JCGA state of the art assets and facilities and conduct of sports activities with other cadets from Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, and cadets from the United States Coast Guard Academy, Canadian Coast Guard College and the JCGA, as the host academy. 

 

An exchange of views and opinions were conducted as a way to improve the quality of education among the participants. The said officers also gave an overview on the current organizational structure and the present cadetship program of the PCG with the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy and Coast Guard Officers’ Course.
