PCG: A total of eight million nine hundred fifty thousand pesos (P8,950,000) was intercepted by Coast Guard authorities from a passenger of M/V Lady Mary Joy 3 – a passenger/cargo vessel owned by Aleson Shipping Lines at 3pm yesterday, July 24 at Zamboanga City Port Passenger Terminal.
A certain Mr. Isnaji Sajail, 57 years old and a resident of Parang, Jolo was carrying 1 box which was later found to be containing undetermined amount of Philippine currencies was reported by the duty terminal x-ray technician from Philippine Ports Authority during the conduct of baggage inspection.
Said vessel was scheduled to depart Zamboanga City at 3:30 pm of the same day bound for Malaysia.
Upon confirmation, Coast Guard Station Zamboanga personnel immediately brought the apprehended passenger together with the confiscated cargo to Bureau of Customs – Zamboanga for the accounting of the said money at 4:45 pm.
The accounting of the money was conducted at 5pm in the presence of representatives from PCG, BOC, PPA Police and local media.
