PCG: Joint personnel of Coast Guard Sub Station (CGSS) Guiuan, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and local police apprehended a total of 16 unregistered bancas for using air compressors while fishing at vicinity waters off Guiuan, Eastern Samar last Monday, July 24.

Accordingly, said fishing bancas violated Section 68 of Municipal Ordinance No.7 series of 2010, which bans the use of compressor within municipal waters as accessories in fishing.

The team boarded the apprehended fishing bancas and confiscated 16 units of compressor tanks, 15 bundles of compressor hoses, and 14 units of compressors. Confiscated items were turned over to BFAR Guiuan for impoundment/custodial safekeeping.  

Meanwhile, Ms. Lea B Gayoso, BFAR Fishery Law Enforcement Officer advised the owners to settle their corresponding fine at Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) of Guiuan for the release of the confiscated fishing bancas except for the illegal paraphernalia.
