PCG: PCG continues search for a fisherman who went missing after he fell overboard when their fishing banca was suddenly hit by an unidentified fishing boat (hulbot-hulbot) at vicinity waters of Light Station Malamawi island, Isabela City, Basilan last Saturday, September 9.

Initial reports received by the Coast guard Sub-Station Isabela from a certain Mr Leonardo Colombo revealed that on September 9 at 12 midnight, motor banca “Asniya” with two (2) persons onboard namely Mr Abdul S. Juddin, 45 years old and his son Masur S. Juddin, 8 years old, both residents of Barangay Diki, Malamawi Island, Isabela City were conducting fishing activity within Malawi waters when an identified fishing boat suddenly appeared and rammed their vessel. Due to the impact, the victim fell overboard and went missing, while his son sustained a minor head injury and luckily remained onboard.

CGSS Isabela personnel immediately conducted a search and rescue operation but yielded negative result. Further, Coast Guard made coordination with local fisher folks in the adjacent communities to be on the lookout of the said missing fisherman.

Meanwhile, SAR operation will still continue until further advise from the Coast Guard District of its termination.
