PCG: Eighteen (18) crew of fishing banca βMOMAR-1β which capsized at vicinity waters between Lobazon and Gutalac Bay in Zamboanga Del Norte were successfully rescued by the joint elements of Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine Army yesterday, September 12.
The incident was reported by a certain Rolly Antipura, 51 years old, a resident of Labason, Zamboanga Del Norte.
The elements of CGS Dapitan and Philippine Army immediately proceeded in the area and conducted search and rescue operation.
At 9:15 AM, the team sighted the distressed fishing banca and subsequently rescued the 18 crew in good physical condition.
Investigation revealed that Fbca MOMAR-1 with eighteen (18) crew onboard conducted fishing venture at approximately 30 nautical miles off Labason and Gutalac Bay when they were hit by big waves and strong winds which caused the fishing banca to capsize.
Meanwhile, the SAR team towed Fbca MOMAR-1 to the nearest shoreline and advised the boat Captain to file a marine protest relative to the incident.
