PCG: Coast Guard Sub-Station Nagpayong conducted SAR operations along the stretch of Pasig river after a man was reported to be drowned and went missing yesterday, September 17.
The victim was identified as Mr Bido Roger Escamella, 40-45 years old, 5β3 in height, wearing underwater gear without upper garment and a resident of Purok 1, Brgy. Pineda, Pasig City.
Accordingly, the victim swam into the river but due to strong current, he was suddenly dragged into the deeper portion of the river and disappeared.
At 12:30 PM, CGSS Nagpayong conducted underwater Search and Rescue (SAR) operations onboard an aluminum boat, together with the Security Force of the said barangay, but yielded negative result.
Due to strong current and poor visibility prevailing in the area, SAR operation was temporarily terminated and will continue the following day.
Further, the team advised all watercrafts transiting in the area to be on the look-out for possible sighting of the victim and to immediately report to the nearest PCG Units if sighted.
