PCG: Coast Guard Sub-Station Sangali recovered almost 150 liters of oil spill at Sangli Fishing Port last October 14.

CGSS Sangali received a report from a concerned citizen that Western Mindanao Power Corporation (WMPC) oil pipeline is leaking.

Immediately, CGSS Sangali personnel responded to the report and coordinated with the said company for the availability of oil spill boom.

Subsequently, Four (4) segments of oil spill boom were laid and started the recovery operation using absorbent pad.

Accordingly, Marine Environmental Protection Unit (MEPU) personnel revealed that more or less 20 liters of bunker oil were spilled in the shoreline and more or less 150 liters were recovered at the Market Hall.

Further, Recovery operation is now being undertaken, while investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the incident and possible violation to be imposed against the above mentioned company.
