PCG: Four (4) fishermen were successfully rescued by Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Linapacan onboard Marksman-7 of 2.40 Gross Tonnage, powered by 4D30 mitsubishi engine and owned by John Romel Gunda at vicinity waters more or less 2 nautical miles northeast off Demanglet Island, Linapacan, Palawan last October 25.
Reports revealed that at around 7PM of October 24, the Coast Guard received a text message from Mr Rafael Rodriguez, a Sangguniang Bayan member of Linapacan, Palawan informing that Marksman-7 encountered engine trouble and went dead on water at vicinity waters between Demanglet Island and Malubutlubut Island, Linapacan, Palawan and is requesting for rescue and assistance. Immediately, Coast Guard search and rescue team departed Port of Linapacan enroute to the incident area, however, due to unfavorable sea and weather condition, SAR operation was temporarily terminated.
The following day, after several hours of scouring, SAR team sighted the said distressed motor banca and subsequently rescued all four (4) fishermen onboard. Simultaneously, the distressed motor banca was towed to the shoreline of Sitio Pangalayngalayan, Brgy. San Miguel, Linapacan, Palawan. The rescued fishermen were found to be in good physical condition.
PCG SAR team likewise advised the boat captain to repair her engine and to file a Marine Protest before resuming their voyage from San Jose, Occidental Mindoro enroute to El Nido, Palawan.
