PCG: Personnel of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Laguna De Bay rescued five (5) survivors while eight (8) cadavers were retrieved after an unknown motor banca capsized at the vicinity waters of Sitio Wawa, Brgy Libis, Binangonan Rizal yesterday, 29 October.

Initial investigation revealed that the said motor banca departed said vicinity and proceeded at “Dimatawaran” fishpond for the celebration of Mr Gerson Decrito’s wife together with her high school classmates. While underway at approximately 50 meters away from their destination, the passengers allegedly started taking group pictures at the starboard side which caused the motorbanca to list. The passengers transferred to the port side to maintain stability but the said motorbanca continued to list and eventually capsized. Decrito, the operator of the motorbanca, saved three (3) passengers while one (1) passenger successfully managed to swim and float.

The SAR team of Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (MDRRMC) also arrived in the area and assisted the PCG SAR team.

At around 2:36 pm, the team successfully retrieved the eight (8) missing cadavers.

The five (5) survivors were brought to Margarito Duavit Hospital for necessary medical attention while the cadavers were brought to the funeral parlor for proper disposition.
