PCG: Elements of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Glan retrieved the body of a drowned man who went on swimming while under the influence of liquor at the vicinity waters of Campungan Beach Resort, Barangay Tango, Glan, Sarangani Province last December 17.
Initially, the Municipal Police Station of Glan requested for a search and rescue (SAR) operation in the drowning incident upon receiving the report of the said missing person.
According to reports, the victim who was identified as Jhony Diaz, 30 year-old and a resident of Sitio Valencia, Brgy. San Vicente, Banga, South Cotabato, who was in the state of being drunk swam in the deep portion of the beach. He was suddenly battered by big waves and was dragged by the strong current causing him to drown and subsequently went out of sight.
Immediately, the SAR team proceeded to the said area to conduct SAR operation and retrieved the floating cadaver of Diaz at approximately 100 meters away from the shoreline.
Upon recovery, the cadaver was turned-over to his family for proper disposition.
