PCG: 47 passengers including the crew were safely assisted by Coast Guard Sub-station Boracay after a speed boat accidentally collided with Motorbanca “Aveline” while enroute to Coral Garden, Station 2, Aklan last December 18.

Mr Carlo Islita, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office personnel reported the incident to the said sub-station. Immediately, CGSS Boracay-Deployable Response Group (DRG) personnel conducted search and rescue operations and rendered necessary assistance and transferred the crew and passengers who were all Chinese nationals. 

Investigation revealed that said motorbanca departed from Balinghay Snorkling Area, Brgy. Yapak, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan for an island hopping activity. Speedboat “Stingray 15” was transiting at 150 meters away from the shoreline of Station 1 enroute to Coral Garden, Station 2, she failed to notice the approaching motorbanca which resulted to a collision.

The motorbanca sustained damages on its outrigger while the speed boat on its propeller. All passengers and crew were found to be in good physical condition and were safely transported to the shoreline of Garden Hotel, Station 2, Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan.

CGSS Boracay also advised both boat captains to file a Marine Protest.
