PCG: Upon the initiative of the Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao and in partnership with the Coast Guard Civil Relations Service, the Philippine Coast Guard conducted the fourth humanitarian relief operations for almost one thousand (1000) families at Bitio Buadi Itowa, Marawi City, Lanao del Sur today, 20 December 2017 as the continuing effort of the Command to comply with the directives of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to help in the stabilization of the affected places in the said city. 

Aboard BRP Pampanga (SARV-003), relief goods including grocery items, hygiene kits, school supplies, slippers, used clothes, and packed gifts for children were transported from Manila last 18 December around 10:30 P.M. to Port of Iligan with thirty one and a half hours travel time.

With the help of the Department of Social Works and Development, Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, and PCGA National Directors Office, National Capital Region and Medical Squadron, the conduct of the said relief operations became conducive and organized.

Aside from the evacuees, the PCG also distributed packed goods to deployed military and police personnel within the vicinity in support to their incessant fight in maintaining peace and order within the city. 

Witnessing the remnants caused by the siege, PCG will continue to extend our service to reach out affected families and is still opening its door to receive donations.

The Officer-in-Charge, Philippine Coast Guard, COMMO JOEL S GARCIA PCG Ph.D., H.D., Al-Haj wishes to extend its appreciation to University of the Philippines Community, O.B. Montessori, Pointwest Inc., and Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary as the benefactors for the conduct of the said relief. 

Meanwhile, Interferry, the Association of International Shipping Ferry Operators Association worldwide, donated 2000 US Dollars (USD) and Chet Pastrana, CEO of Fascat Philippines and member of the board of the said Interferry also donated 200 USD.
