PCG: Mbca “Tata CC”, a passenger motor banca, went half-submerged after it caught fire onboard at vicinity waters 200 meters away from the shoreline off Sitio Tabon, Brgy  Bay-bay, Caticlan, Malay, Aklan last Thursday, February 11.

Initial investigation revealed that while Mbca “Tata CC” was transiting enroute to Boracay Island from Magic Island in Malay, Aklan at 4PM of the same day an ignition on her carburator occurred and directly hit the fuel tank which caused fire on the starboard hull. Subsequently, the motor banca took in seawater causing it to go half-submerged on the water. 

Immediately, personnel of Coast Guard Station Caticlan together with concerned citizens rendered assistance to the three passengers onboard and safely transported them to Boracay Island in good physical condition. CGS Caticlan also advised the operator of Mbca “Tata CC” to file a marine protest relative to the incident.
