PCG: Three passengers were safely rescued by the Coast Guard after their boat was accidentally hit by a motorbanca at the vicinity waters of Caticlan Jetty Port, Malay, Aklan.
The incident was reported by the duty Coast Guard K9 personnel at Coast Guard Station Caticlan.
The swift action of the Coast Guard Deployable Response Team (CGDRT) resulted to the safe rescue of the three passengers of M/bca Rose P.E.
Accordingly, M/bca Southwest 2, with 30 passengers onboard, accidentally hit M/bca Rose P.E.while maneuvering to dock at Caticlan Jetty Port.
The distressed boat has just departed the port loaded with 20 pcs of scaffolding and 20 pcs of 2”x 20’ steel pipe when the incident occurred.
The collision punched a hole at the port bow portion of M/bca Rose P.E. causing her to subsequently submerge.
The three persons onboard M/bca Rose P.E identified as Ramie Pelayo, Merwin Prayco, Nelson Odo.
M/bca Rose P.E. was towed to the shoreline of Caticlan, Malay, Aklan while M/bca Southwest 2 incurred a minor crack approximately two feet on her deck passageway edging at starboard quarter portion.
CGS Caticlan advised the Captain of the motorbancas to file marine protest relative to the incident.
