PCG: The Philippine Coast Guard actively joins the local government of San Fernando, La Union in making the province a tourist-friendly and disaster-free place especially this summer season.

In this light, the personnel of Coast Guard District Northwestern Luzon (CGDNWLZN) and Coast Guard Station (CGS) San Fernando conducted two coastal clean-up activities that were simultaneously held in different areas of La Union last April 2.Β 

The first coastal clean-up was held at the coastal barangays of San Fernando, San Agustin and Canaoay. Truckloads of garbage were collected by the Coast Guard from the said areas where an increase of tourist arrivals was seen last weekend.Β 

Another coastal clean-up activity was simultaneously held at New Poro Point Baywalk in Poro Point Freeport Zone by the Poro Point Management Corporation (PPMC) and PCG. The activity was conducted in connection with the upcoming Sillag Poro Point Festival of Lights 2016 on April 8-10 when an influx of tourists are expected to arrive.

The said projects were successfully accomplished through the leadership of CGDNWLZN's District Commander, CAPT LEOVIGILDO G PANOPIO PCG.
