PCG: 100 children with special needs were assisted by the Philippine Coast Guard to find empowerment through surfing in the surfing capital of the north -- Urbiztondo, San Juan, La Union last April 03. 

The event was spearheaded by SJL Team Learning Center to empower children with special needs and their families by facilitating social, physical, emotional and community development through engagement in the local sport  of surfing. 

The TEAM SURF project concluded safely and successfully through the assistance of 20 personnel from the Coast Guard District North Western Luzon (CGDNWLZN), four personnel from Coast Guard Station (CGS) San Fernando, four from MED-NWLZN, three from its Special Operations Unit, and two from the K-9 unit.

Said PCG personnel provided standby Search and Rescue Team and Medical Assistance.
