PCG: The cadaver of a retired policeman was recovered by the Coast Guard at vicinity 20 meters from the shoreline of Balete, Batangas last Monday, April 25.
The remains were positively identified by his relative, Narciso Lanseta as a certain SPO2 Debencio Villanueva, 54, a retired policeman.
According to Lanseta, they were onboard motor banca "Pagukpok" enoute to Tanauan from Balete, Batangas when they were suddenly battered by strong winds and big waves until it capsized. While he was able to swim to the nearest shoreline, Villanueva, who was under the influence of alcohol, went missing.Β
The incident was reported by Chairman Herman Bisugan of Barangay Kalawit Pulo to the personnel of Coast Guard Sub-Station Talisay.
A search and rescue operations was immediately deployed by CGSS Talisay together with members of Special Operations Unit to conduct SAR operations to the missing policeman but yielded negative results.
Villanueva's cadaver was found the following day and was subsequently turned-over to PNP Tanauan in the presence of his family. His remains were then brought to Reycon Funeral Homes for proper disposition.
