PCG: Two foreign nationals and a Filipino crew were rescued by the Coast Guard at the vicinity waters of Samal Island after two days of being stranded at sea.

Steven Warren, 62 years old from New Zealand; Chazz Blundell, 68 years old from Australia; and boat crew Franklin Tessorio, 26 years old, reportedly left Ocean View in Samal Island for Subic last May 10 when their sail boat “Shana 3” suddenly went dead on water due to a faulty engine.

The sail boat drifted for two days heading to Davao Gulf Area and was simply relying on the wind and its sail.

Through Tessorio’s constant communication with the Coast Guard, the stranded men were successfully rescued by the PCG personnel onboard MCS 3003. Shana 3 was towed to Daliao Fishport in Toril, Davao City.

The rescued victims were sent back to Ocean View Resort in good physical condition.
