Personnel of Coast Guard Sub Station (CGSS) Atimonan is still searching for the two (2) missing crew of fishing banca Ervy-1 which submerged at the vicinity waters of Polilio Island, Quezon on June 4.
Investigation revealed that Fbca Ervy-1 skippered by Capt Jerry Cabahip with eleven crew onboard departed Atimonan Fish Port Atimonan, Quezon on May 17 bound to Pacific Ocean to conduct fishing venture.
The fishing banca was allegedly hit by a tornado at the vicinity waters approximately 27 nautical mules Northeast of Polilio Island, Quezon which caused the vessek to submerge.
Luckily, fishing banca "Super R" sighted the distressed vessel while transiting in the said area and successfully rescued the seven crew members of the fishing banca and immediately brought them to Atimonan Port in Atimonan, Quezon. They were also able to retrieve two cadavers while the two other crew went missing.
Upon arrival at Atimonan Port, the rescued victims were immediately given medical attention while the two recovered cadavers were properly turned-over to their respective families for proper disposition.
Meanwhile, CGSS Atimonan advised all vessel and fishing boats transiting in the area to be on look-out for the two missing fishermen and to immediately report the same to the nearest PCG Units if sighted.
