PCG: The cadaver of the reported missing person identified as Macario "Jun" Bautista, 24, of Barangay Borongborongan, Milaor, Camarines Sur was recovered by the residents of the said barangay near the Bicol River on June 6.
Bautista reportedly suffered from a sudden cramp while gathering shells at the said river and subsequently drowned.
Search and rescue operations conducted by the personnel of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Camaligan headed by PO3 Benico PCG yielded negative results. At 9:45PM of the same day, local residents sighted and recovered Bautistaβs dead body and immediately reported the same to the Coast Guard.
Said cadaver was then turned-over to the family of the victim for proper disposition.
Meanwhile, another fisherman is the subject of the search and rescue operations of the Coast Guard in Tacloban and Anibong after he failed to re-surface in the waters of Babatngon, Leyte last Monday, June 6.
The victim identified as Ivan Malatbalat, 18 years old and a resident of Barangay Uban, reportedly dived underwater and attempted to repair the motor bancaβs propeller and was believed to have drowned in the process.Β
The SAR team immediately searched for the victim, however, said operation was terminated due to unfavorable weather condition.
The Coast Guard has already issued a Notice to all Mariners to all vessels transiting in the area to be on the look-out of the missing fisherman and to report to the nearest PCG unit if sighted.
