PCG. “Mbca Jay-A” with 70 passengers onboard submerged while maneuvering at Magallanes Wharf, Agusan Del Norte last June 11 at 5:40AM.

Investigation revealed that at 6PM of the same day, personnel of Coast Guard Station Butuan received a message from personnel of Maritime Police informing that Mbca Jay-A encountered engine trouble while maneuvering due to big waves prevailing in the said area. All the passengers onboard panicked which led them to proceed to the starboard side of the motor banca causing it to list and take in water and subsequently submerge. 

Immediately, personnel of Coast Guard onboard Aluminum boat - 249 conducted search and rescue operations and successfully rescued sixty nine (69) passengers. One (1) passenger, however, died from the incident while another one from the 69 rescued passengers was brought to Cabadbaran City for further medical attention.
