PCG: Three passengers of an ill-fated motor boat were rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard in Caramoan, Camarines Sur yesterday, July 14.
The vessel M/Bca Joseph Mel was left drifting at sea when its engine failed due to a split spring on its cylinder head. It was supposedly bound for Infanta, Quezon from Ticao Island, Masbate when the incident occurred.
The incident was reported by a certain Elmo Gomez Jr. to the personnel of Coast Guard District Bicol (CGDBCL) and informed that three persons are stranded at sea to include his father who the boat captain.
CGDBCL immediately deployed its men from the Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Codon to search for the stranded passengers. They were seen drifting three nautical miles from Tabgon, Caramon at around 11:45 PM.
All passengers were found in good physical condition. The boat was towed to the Port of Codon in Catanduanes.
