PCG: 36 stranded passengers and nine crew members of a passenger/cargo vessel were rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard at the vicinity waters of Zapatos Island, Balud, Masbate yesterday.

M/Bca Mariane reportedly damaged its propeller shaft while underway to Roxas City, Capiz from Jintotolo Island, Balud, Masbate.

Upon receipt of information, PO1 Apuya PCG and ASN Tansiongco PCG of Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Calumpang immediately hired a boat to assist the stranded passengers and to tow the distressed vessel to Roxas City.

All passengers were found to be in good physical condition.

PO1 Apuya advised the owner/operator to file for a marine protest upon arrival at her next port of call.
