The Coast Guard Education and Training Command has conducted several pre anniversary activities in celebration of its 15th Founding Anniversary on September 27 theme as “CGETC: 15 years of Annealing changes in pursuit of Education and Training par Excellence towards top notch Coast Guard Service”.
The pre-anniversary activities kicked-off with the opening ceremony of CGETC Sports Fest led by its Commander COMMO AARON T RECONQUISTA PCG on September 13.
A Joint Coastal Clean-up and Agoho Tree Planting along the shoreline of Freedom Island of Las Piňas-Paraňaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area (LPPCHEA) was held last September 14.
The activity was conducted in partnership with LPPCHEA headed by Mr. Lito Castaňeda of the Conservation and Development Division of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources- National Capital Region (DENR-NCR) and the local government of Paraňaque City.
100 participants composed of students from PCG functional and specialization courses and CGETC personnel joined the coastal clean-up activity.
A total of two hundred thirty two (232) sacks and bags of assorted non-biodegradable wastes were collected.
The Agoho-planting activity was also conducted immediately after the clean-up operations. Fifty (50) seedlings of 2-year old Agoho tree were planted along the shoreline of Freedom Island.
