The Maritime Security and Law Enforcement Command (MARSLEC) celebrated its 2nd Founding Anniversary last September 26, 2016 with PCG Commandant RADM WILLIAM M MELAD PCG as the Guest of Honor and Speaker at Headquarters MARSLEC, Cavite Buoy Base, Naval Base Heracleo Alano, Sangley Point, Cavite City.

The celebration was highlighted with the recognition of groups and individuals who has rendered valuable services in support of the MARSLEC’s mission.  This year’s recipient of the MARSLEC’s Unit of the Year is the Coast Guard K9 Group (CGK9G) headed by CAPT Nelson B Torre PCG.  The CGK9G was recognized for its significant contributions in various security and law enforcement operations.  PO2 Churchill G Guevara PCG of the Coast Guard Anti-Terrorist Unit (CGATU) was adjudged as the MARSLEC Non-Officer of the Year for his meritorious achievement and involvement in the various high impact security operations in the southern part of the country.

During the celebration, a special award was given to the Philippine Red Cross – Cavite Chapter for facilitating MARSLEC’s blood-letting activity that led to the donation of forty (40) bags of 450cc blood bags.  Special awards were also given to the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office – Noveleta, the Municipal Agriculture Office – Noveleta, the Naval Base Cavite, the PCGA’s 125th Squadron, and Barangay 53-B of Sangley Point, Cavite City for their participation that led to the planting of 2,000 mangrove propagules at San Rafael IV, Cavite City.

Aside from the CGK9G and CGATU, MARSLEC’s other subordinate units are the Coast Guard Intelligence Force (CGIF) and the Coast Guard Sea Marshal Group (CGSMG).  

In his speech, Rear Admiral Melad commended the MARSLEC personnel for all the accomplishment they have contributed to the PCG and encouraged them to continue taking the lead of securing the seas and enforcing all the applicable maritime laws in support to the PCG’s mission.
