Two persons died from drowning from two different towns in Batangas.

Ms. Maria Agnes Nolasco San Pedro, an advanced diving course student, 35 years old and a resident of Filinvest II, Quezon City suddenly went missing while on a diving training at vicinity waters of Barangay Mainit, Mabini, Batangas at 11 AM of Sunday, October 16.

According to Mr. Enrico Montes, diving instructor of Safety Stop Diving Resort, upon noticing that San pedro was missing, they immediately searched for the missing companion but yielded negative result.

He immediately reported the incident to Mr. Silvestre Baquillos Jr, Chairman of Bantay Dagat who then relayed the information to Coast Guard Sub-station Mabini at 1 PM.

Coast Guard Special Operations Unit – Southern Tagalog together with a team of volunteer divers conducted search and rescue operations to the missing student. They were able to locate and retrieve the lifeless body of the victim underwater at a depth of thirty one (31) meters on October 17 at 10 AM.

CGS Mabini together with PNP Maritime group brought the cadaver to Funeraria Bautista in Bauan, Batangas at 10:45 AM for proper disposition and subsequent turn-over to the family of the victim.

In another incident, a fisherman’s cadaver was retrieved by the joint search and rescue team composed of Coast Guard Sub-station Nasugbu, Philippine Army, Bureau of Fire Protection and MDRRMO Nasugbu on Tuesday, October 18 at 5 AM at vicinity waters off Brgy Bucana, Nasugbu.

Mr. Mario Constantino of MDRRMO Nasugbu reported to CGS Nasugbu that a certain Mr. Agustin Zacarias sought search and rescue assistance for his brother, MC Nel Zacarias, who went missing while they were on a fishing venture at Daye River in Bilaran, Nasugbu, Batangas.

The 25-year old victim was accidentally carried away by strong current while he was crossing the river.

A concerned citizen, Mr. Dionisio Buen of Brgy Bilaran, informed the PCG thru a cellphone call that a dead man’s body was found at vicinity waters of Camachilihan River of the said barangay.

The cadaver was brought to Saint Peter Funeral Homes for embalming and was subsequently turned-over to his family for proper disposition.
