PCG: Coast Guard Sub-station Tubigon personnel continues search for the missing passenger who accidentally fell into the water while Mbca Lyjhon is transiting at vicinity of Mantatao Island, Clape, Bohol on December 19, 2015.
A certain PO2 Jasper Reyes from Tubigon Police Station relayed the information to the Coast Guard that Mr. Aaron Balane reported the man overboard incident at 9:02 am of the same day.
Immediately, CGSS Tubigon dispatched its SAR team to conduct search and rescue operations to the victim but yielded negative result.
Initial inquiry conducted to Ms. Nona Jane Cajegas revealed that Mbca Lyjhon departed Mandau City bound for Cabilao Island, Loon, Bohol with a total of eight (8) persons onboard, including the boat captain, Mr. Francisco Montes on Dec 19 at 4:00 pm. At around 7pm, while the said motor banca is underway at vicinity waters of Mantatao Island, he saw the victim, a certain Mr. Elvin Arano who was seated at the fantail, suddenly fell overboard. She then called the attention of the boat captain and reported the incident.
The boat captain immediately maneuvered his motorbanca to rescue Arano, however, failed due to big waves and strong winds prevailing in the area. He then decided to proceed to Mantatao Island to take shelter.
At 10:40 pm, CGSS Tubigon has sent a Notice to Mariners to all vessels transiting in the area of incident. Likewise, the nearby barangays were also alerted to be on the lookout of the missing victim and to report to the nearest PCG unit if sighted.
The victim was last seen wearing red-colored T-shirt and yellow/violet 6-pocketed short.
At 12:02 am of December 20, Ms. Nona Jane Cajegas informed CGSS Tubigon that Mbca Lyjhon successfully arrived at Mantatao Island to take shelter with no other casualties or injuries reported.
