PCG: A passenger of MV St. Michael the Archangel banged his head on concrete and fractured his legs after jumping off the ship last wednesday morning, 14 January in Iloilo.

Gregory Almedilla witnessed his fellow passenger Robert Lloyd Reyes jumped off the starboard side of the ship and immediately screamed for help.

Reyes fell on a concrete pavement of the Arrastre Pier and incurred a nine inch gash on his forehead and fractured legs.

The incident was reported by Capt. Rufino Solivas to the personnel of Coast Guard Station Iloilo through VHF radio around 7:50AM. 

Immediately, the personnel of CGS Iloilo proceeded to Arrastre Pier and contacted Iloilo City Emergency Response (ICER) for the availability of ambulance to transport the victim to the nearest hospital.

Investigation revealed that said vessel departed North Harbor Manila on January 13 bound for Iloilo City with a total of 1,929 passengers and 19 rolling cargoes onboard when the incident occurred. 

Capt. Solivas directed their medical team headed by Dr Linley Lacuata and duty nurse  Jesabel Joy M Jandayan to render necessary assistance to the victim who was found conscious and wounded.

Personnel of CGS Iloilo together with ICER personnel and vessel medical team brought the victim to St Paul's Hospital in General Luna St., Iloilo City. The victim was properly turned over to the attending physician for medical check-up and further medical attention. 

The PCG boarding team conducted MPDI (Mandatory Pre-Departure Inspection) and advised the master to file a marine protest relative to the incident.
