PCG: 18 crew members, including the ship captain, were arrested by authorities in Iloilo after it was discovered that they were pilfering fuel from their own ship.

Capt. Ruvy C. Cajilig and his crew were reportedly onboard MV Alal Capricorn-3 bound for Mandaue, Cebu when they encountered steering casualty last February 9 and dropped anchor 500 yards off Guiwanon Island.

Two days later, the Nueva Valencia Bantay Dagat spotted the ship's crew transferring 25 plastic containers (20 liters per container) of fuel to motor banca Doydoy.

Upon receipt of information from SPO4 Mel Iwayan of PNP MARICOM 6, the personnel of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Iloilo immediately conducted onboard inspection along with Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Jordan, Marine Environmental Protection Unit (MEPU-WV), Field Security-Western Visayas, PNP-Maritime Group and Naval Intelligence & Security Unit (NISU)51.

CGSS Jordan personnel and MEPU-WV issued Inspection Apprehension Report (IAR) to subject vessel for violations of MC 07-2005 (Prevention of Pollution by Sewage from Ships) and MC 05-2005 (Shipboard Oil Pollution Emergency Plan for Philippine Registered Vessel), and advised the master to settle said violations at CGS Iloilo prior to their departure.

The master and crew were invited by PNP Nueva Valencia and MARIG 6 for further inquiry and for filing of appropriate charges.
