PCG: A domestic cargo ship was temporarily detained by the Coast Guard after it incurred damages on its bow when it accidentally rammed the edge of Dumangas Port, Iloilo last Sunday, March 8.

The incident was personally reported by MV SF Horizon's master, Capt. Francisco I. Bernadas, to the Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Dumangas.

Investigation revealed that while maneuvering for docking at Dumangas Port, MV SF Horizon accidentally rammed the edge of the wharf due to strong winds and sea current.

This damaged the wharf's concrete gutter while the ship incurred a three-inch crack on a dented portion of its bow.

The vessel, loaded with 1,938.89MT of assorted steel bars from North Harbor, Manila has later moored on the portside of Dumangas Port.

The personnel of CGSS Dumangas advised the master of the said vessel to file a marine protest. Coast Guard Station Iloilo also issued a Notification of Detention to aforementioned vessel and will be lifted only after MARINA has issued a Certification of Seaworthiness to subject vessel.
