PCG: A 50-year old fisherman was successfully rescued by elements of the Philippine Coast Guard in La Union after he was reported missing by his son last Tuesday, March 17.

According to Rommel Cabradilla, his father Roger went fishing at the vicinity waters of San Fernando but failed to return home as expected.

Upon receipt of information, the personnel of Coast Guard Station (CGS) San Fernando immediately launched a search and rescue operation from San Fernando to Bacnotan, La Union.

Roger was found clinging on a payaw approximately 30 nautical miles from the shoreline of Poro Banks, Fishermen's Village in Poro Point, La Union.

The rescued fisherman stated that his boat was battered by big waves until it capsized.
