PCG: The Deployable Response Team of Coast Guard Station (CGS) Caticlan successfully evacuated an ailing crew of MV Ocean Opportunity at Caticlan Anchorage Area in Malay, Aklan last Sunday, March 29.

CGS Caticlan received a call through VHF radio from the captain of subject vessel requesting a medical evacuation for his crew identified as John Paul V. Agudulo who was suffering from a high fever.

The team immediately evacuated and brought the patient to Baptist Hospital for immediate medical attention. According to the attending physician the victim was in electrolyte imbalanced condition. He was recommended to be transferred to Don Rafael Tumbokon Hospital in Kalibo, Aklan for further medical tests and treatment.

MV Ocean Opportunity, with 6,704 gross tonnages, was loaded with cargo containers and is owned and operated by Oceanic Container Lines Inc.

Subject vessel departed Manila North Harbor last March 28 bound for Sasa Port in Davao when the incident transpired.
